Weaves of Winter - Merino Wool & Warmth
Winter dressing often calls for warmth that doesn’t feel heavy and design that doesn’t feel excessive. That idea shaped the foundation of Weaves of Winter, a capsule built around pure merino wool paired with India’s weaving traditions.
We revisited the checks and stripes seen in Bengal and traditional handlooms in the south, especially the layouts found in tangail saris, and adapted their structure into a weave suited for colder days. The intention was to create something familiar in design but practical enough for everyday winter wear.

The collection starts with pure merino wool fiber. The fibres are cleaned, hand-spun, yarn dyed, and then woven into two timeless colour combinations.
One blends charcoal with soft grey; the other brings together warm beige and cream. Both carry multicoloured borders that add a quiet lift to the understated stripes. By increasing the GSM of the weave, the wool holds warmth comfortably while staying light enough for daily wear, whether layered or worn as a single piece.
To make the collection work across shifting temperatures, we also developed a heavier linen.
It pairs naturally with coats and overlays in early winter and stands well on its own during warm winter afternoons. Together, the wool and linen pieces create a range that moves through the entire season with ease, from the cool winter mornings to the gradual return of warmth in early February.
The silhouettes reflect Manan’s approach to winter dressing: uncomplicated, comfortable, and easy to style. The capsule includes a relaxed pheran, tailored kurtas, and an overlay influenced by traditional cuts. The reversible overlay, finished neatly with contrast piping inside, offers two distinct looks in one garment. Contemporary tops, tent dresses, a short boxy dress, tailored pants, and heavy linen overcoats round out the collection, each designed to sit naturally within a winter wardrobe without asking for extra effort.
Hand-done details add character and colour throughout. Bright picoting, hand-knotted borders along sleeves and hems, and a scalloped hand-stitched edge traces the stripe in thoughtful placements. Each detail is applied individually by hand, giving small variations that make every piece feel considered. The details add texture and colour in a way that uplifts the weave without distracting from it.
At its core, Weaves of Winter focuses on materials and silhouettes that support everyday movement and comfort. The soft merino wool is natural and breathable, the colours are understated enough for repeated wear, and the construction is designed to last across seasons.
