Silk - Made Thoughtfully, Worn Effortlessly
Silk - Made Thoughtfully, Worn Effortlessly
Some collections come from a place of nostalgia.
For this one, we went back to the Madras check, a weave
that has been part of Indian textiles for generations.
Traditionally seen in Kanjivaram sarees, the Madras check is known for its clean geometry and rich contrast of colours. We wanted to bring it into our world of calm, to see how it could look and feel in silk. The result is a gentler interpretation: broader checks, lighter tones, and an open weave that lets the fabric drape with ease.
We chose Eri silk, often called Ahimsa silk, for its strength and softness. Unlike traditional silk, Eri is made after the moth has naturally left its cocoon, making it one of the few completely non-violent silks.
The yarn is spun by hand, which gives it a matte texture and a dense, breathable quality, perfect for something you can wear across seasons. It’s a fabric that holds structure but still moves easily, with a natural sheen that never feels excessive.
The embroidery builds on that quiet balance.
Inspired by Victorian botanical drawings,it uses a mix of kantha, zardozi, and aari techniques. Each is done by hand, adding just enough texture for the eye to notice but never so much that it competes with the weave. Silver threads sit softly on greys, gold rests on warmer tones, a shimmer that appears only when the light finds it.
Everything comes together in silhouettes that feel familiar: kurtas, dresses, shirts, and overlays that follow the weave rather than fight it. Each piece is cut for movement and comfort, with thoughtful finishing that allows the fabric to stay as natural as possible.
