Occasion मन Wear सा forA life beyond festivities
An invitation has a way of deciding many things for us.
The date we keep free, the people we look forward to seeing and the clothes we begin imagining ourselves in.
We choose something beautiful and, for an evening, it becomes part of everything we hoped the moment would be. Afterwards, it is carefully folded away to wait for another day that feels special enough.
But life continues to give us reasons to dress with feeling, even when no invitation arrives.
There are dinners decided over a phone call, familiar faces gathered around a table and afternoons that turn into evenings before anyone notices. There are also days when choosing something beautiful is simply a way of choosing yourself.
mansa
was imagined for
all of them.
The name describes a feeling born in the mind, and the collection began with one that stayed with us: occasion wear should be allowed to live beyond the occasion.
We wanted to make clothes that carried the richness of festive dressing without becoming tied to a single kind of plan. That meant beginning with forms that already belonged to everyday life. Shirts, dresses and jackets leave room for the wearer to decide what they become. A shirt may be worn to a gathering one evening and with denims the next, while a jacket may begin with the festivities and return throughout the year.
To these familiar silhouettes, Mansa brings an additional layer through richer weaves, thoughtful details and embroidery worked entirely by hand. The clothes retain the ease of pieces we instinctively live in, while carrying a little of the occasion wherever they go.
Before the embroidery found its place, there was the linen. We chose 60 lea pure linen for the ease it brings to the body and the way it grows softer with every wear.
Fine pinstripes of metallic zari run through the weave and catch the light as the wearer moves, placing a little celebration within the fabric itself.
Pink and charcoal came from imagining the moments these clothes might enter. Pink carries the warmth of an afternoon among familiar faces, while charcoal holds the closeness of an evening gathering. Both move easily between day and night, giving the clothes a place in all the hours around an occasion.
And
then
comes
the
craft.
Behind every embroidered flower, bird and geometric form are hours spent guiding the thread, deepening a colour and placing each bead and sequin with care. Aari brings two colours together to create shade, while touches of zardosi lend definition and strips of silver and gold mukaish catch the light. Textured beads and antique brass sequins complete the motifs, leaving the mark of the hand visible in every variation.
The techniques come from traditions we have long known and loved, though the stories embroidered through Mansa carry a lighter spirit.
Flowers grow beside geometric forms and birds wander among them. Some appear to be carrying blooms for someone they love, while others wear the flowers upon their own heads, perhaps having changed their minds along the way. This small quirk brings warmth and wonder to the intricacy of the handwork and allows tradition to feel personal, playful and full of life
Once the clothes leave the hands that made them, another part of their story begins.
A dress may remember the gathering for which it was first chosen and, later, an evening that was never planned. A shirt can move from a room full of people to dinner with one, while a jacket can return year after year and find a different place in every season.
This is the life we imagined for Mansa. One that moves between celebrations and ordinary days without drawing a firm line between the two.
Mansa began as a feeling in our minds, passed through the hands of those who made it and now, we hope, finds a lasting place in your life. From our minds, through many hands, for your heart.
